Roundwood volume calculator

Calculate log volume from middle diameter and length, with optional bark deduction by wood species.

21 wood species

Enter length in metres, with 0.1 m precision.

Enter the diameter at the midpoint of the log, in centimetres.

Choose whether the entered diameter was measured over bark or without bark.

When measured without bark, the wood species does not affect the calculation.

Calculation method

The calculator uses the mid-area formula: V = pi * d^2 / 4 * l, where d is the under-bark diameter in metres and l is the log length in metres.

Bark deduction by species

The table reflects the same rules as the previous article-embedded calculator.
